Music

Corning Christian Academy offers a well-rounded music program in accordance with the National Standards for Music Education. All K-6 students participate in both general music and chorus every week, performing at Sparkle on Market Street, as well as two concerts each year.  7th and 8th graders sing in the middle school chorus, and high school students have the opportunity to sing and learn instruments in Class Voice.

The music program employs a spiral curriculum, strategically building on previous learning in rhythm and note reading, vocal tone and technique, playing ensemble arrangements using classroom instruments, (including xylophones, recorders, and ukuleles), line and circle dances, focused listening, music theory, improvisation, composition, history, and world culture.  The students’ music classes are active, hands-on, and always fun!

Mrs. Dennison earned her Bachelor's Degree in Inclusive Childhood Education from Houghton College and started her teaching career as a librarian at a school in downtown Buffalo. From there she moved back to the twin tiers and taught in various public schools as a substitute teacher and then a Special Education teacher. She is currently teaching students at CCA in chorus, library, and technology.

Jill enjoys watching movies, learning about other cultures, and traveling.

Art

Corning Christian Academy recognizes the importance of art in education and believes that encouraging students’ participation in art can reach beyond attaining basic art skills and art appreciation. From problem solving to learning to express themselves, art promotes a student’s social and emotional development along with enhancing their academic success. We are happy to offer art to every grade level and give them other avenues to express themselves, enhance their education and, most importantly, glorify God.
